Blogger thanks

I would just like to thank all the readers that have given this blog over 100 visits in its first two weeks. Thanks for your support and I promise I'll keep blogging if you keep reading.

Roloson given offer

Roloson: A radio station in Edmonton is reporting the Oilers have made a very strong 1-year offer to Roloson.

Jmess: If Roloson is holding out for a multi-year deal it doesn't make sense to me. I doubt there is a team out there that would give a goalie pushing 40 a multi-year deal.

Boyd coming back

Boyd: Just caught word that the Flames have tendered qualifying offers to Dustin Boyd and Kris Chucko.

Jmess: No surprise the Flames are bringing Boyd back he'll be able to play a depth role on the team.

Bouwmeester signing rumor disputed

Bouwmeester: The Calgary Sun talked to Bouwmeester's agent and he made it clear that a contract worth $6.3 million a season was never offered.

Jmess: I'd definitely believe this it was too early.

Sedin's moving on

Sedin's: TSN's Darren Dreger is reporting that Gillis and the Sedin's still haven't worked out a deal and he wouldn't be suprised if the Sedin's left. Dreger believes the twins could command $7 million each on the open market. Rumors suggest the Habs and Maple Leafs are going to be players for the twins.

Jmess: Really starting to wonder what Gillis is doing. He needs to sign these guys because he won't be able to replace without several years of rebuilding. Camalleri and Gaborik aren't the answer in a quick fix attempt.

Bouwmeester signed?

Bouwmeester: I have just caught word that there are reports saying Bouwmeester has signed with the Flames and will end up costing the Flames $6.3 million in cap space each year. No word on term or amount.

Jmess: I'd really speculate on this rumor, it is too early to know if Bouwmeester will even sign with the Flames let alone how much he'll be making.

Penguins looking at Knuble?

Knuble: Reports out of Pittsburgh suggest the Penguins could go after Knuble if they are unable to re-sign Fedetenko or Bil Geurin.

Jmess: Knuble would be a great depth guy for any team looking for a solid second line winger.

Hossa out of Detroit

Hossa: Reports out of Detroit are saying contract negotiations between Marian Hossa and the Red Wings have broken down. It is now being suggested the Wings might try to move his rights. One extra piece of Red Wings news is that the Wings will not be resigning Ty Conklin.

Jmess: It sounded like the Wings and Hossa were close to a deal but it looks like the Wings don't have the cap room after all. It might be a better move for the Wings to let Hossa go and try to keep Hudler from leaving via restricted free agency.

Hossa offered a contract

Hossa: Reports suggest that Detroit has offered Hossa a 10 year $62 million contract.

Jmess: Will not be suprised if Hossa stays in Detroit.

Heatly to Rangers best offer so far

Heatly: Reports out of New York suggest that the Rangers have the best offer on the table for Heatly so far. Rumors say they are offering Nikolai Zherdev and Michael Rozsival.

Jmess: It appears as though the Rangers are trying to get Heatly for next to nothing just in return for taking Heatly's $4 million dollar bonus.

Kaberle trade

Kaberle: Just caught word that the offer on the table for Kaberle may be from the Flyers and includes Lupul and either Giroux or Van Riemsdyke and a draft pick. Just a rumor though thought it was interesting enough to share.

Kaberle on the move?

Kaberle: TSN is reporting that the Maple Leafs have received a significant offer for Tomas Kaberle. It is believed that one of the teams that were in the hunt for Bouwmeester's rights has made the offer.

Jmess: I don't think it is much of a stretch to expect to see Kaberle playing for a different team next season.

Bouwmeester dealt to Vancouver today

Bouwmeester: Eklund is now saying that the team that Bouwmeester will be dealt to today is Vancouver.

Jmess: Again Eklund's rumors are not the ones I trust the most but again he does seem very sure of this one.

Bouwmeester dealt today?

Bouwmeester: Eklund from hockeybuzz.com is reporting that Bouwmeester is going to be moved today. He is also reporting that the Rangers are working on a big deal.

Jmess: I usually take Eklund's rumor's with a grain of salt but he seems so sure on this one.

Shanahan intent on still playing?

Shanahan: Reports out of New Jersey suggest that Shanahan is intent on playing next season but hasn't received an offer from the Devils.

Jmess: First Chelios and now Shanahan can 40-year-olds actually play in this league? I guess we'll find out.

Roloson on his way out?

Roloson: Reports out of Edmonton suggest Roloson is looking for a multi-year deal but the Oilers aren't willing to give the 40-year-old goaltender more than one. Reports also indicate that the Oilers aren't too worried about signing Roloson as they have their eye on Martin Biron.

Jmess: I wouldn't be surprised at all if we saw Roloson on the outs in Edmonton and Biron taking over the reins.

Lupul for Bouwmeester?

Bouwmeester: Reports are suggesting that the Philadelphia Flyers are willing to include Joffrey Lupul in a trade to acquire Bouwmeester's rights.

Jmess: If the Flyers are intent on getting Bouwmeester this is a good way to acquire his rights while at the same time clearing cap room to sign him. Poor Lupul he just can't seem to stay in one place.

Camalleri's rights on the move

Camalleri: It looks like Calgary isn't going to get Camalleri signed so it looks like his rights could be on the move this weekend. Apparently Ottawa is very interested in acquiring his rights. Buffalo and Nashville could also be players for Camalleri.

Jmess: I wouldn't be surprised at all if we saw Camalleri in a Senators jersey next season as it seems like there is interest from both sides.

Heatly to Rangers or Bruins?

Heatly: It sounds like the foremost deals on the table for Heatly include Heatly going to the Rangers for Drury or Heatly going to the Bruins for Kessel.

Jmess: If Heatly is traded to the Rangers I would have to assume it wouldn't just be for Drury straight up there will probably be some prospects in that deal coming from New York. Kessel would be a good return for Heatly but Boston's issue is they don't know if they'll have enough cap room to sign Kessel. So why would they take on $7.5 million unless Heatly is high on their list and they're willing to move several players to get him.

Lecavalier deal done?

Lecavalier: News out of Montreal says there is a real buzz around the Bell Centre and the Canadiens organization. It sounds like there is a lot of excitement surrounding the organization and sounds like an announcement could be made Friday. Leading to really only one conclusion to come to, they finally landed Lecavalier.

Jmess: If the Lecavalier deal is done and he is going to Montreal I would suspect that you would see Markov going the other way and perhaps Pacioretty or D'agostini.

Havlat wants to stay in Chicago

Havlat: It sounds like Havlat wants to stay in Chicago this is what he twittered today:
"Just waking up. I had some meetings with my agent in Prague the last few days and he is on the way to Mtl. He will meet with Dale tonight. Everyone should know I am only thinking about signing with Chicago. It's where I want to be."

Jmess: I wouldn't be surprised at all if Chicago found a way to keep him. With his performance in the playoffs they should find a way to keep him.

Hossa staying in Detroit?

Hossa: I just caught word that Hossa may have already signed a contract with Detroit and the Red Wings are just waiting to announce that the deal is done.

Jmess: So much for everyone who said the wings can't sign Franzen and Hossa. However I'll wait to say they found a way until it is official.

What has to take place for Lecavalier to go to Montreal

Jmess: This is the steps that would have to happen for Lecavalier to go to Montreal. First and foremost Hedman would have to be taken as #1 in the draft; this will prevent Tampa from getting the stud defenseman they desperately need. Why does Hedman have to go first for Montreal to get Lecavalier? Markov is the only asset Montreal has that the Lightning want but the Lightning will no longer want Markov if they get Hedman, they won't want to have to pay for two number one d-men down the road. So for Montreal to get Lecavalier they need Hedman to get picked first and be willing to give up Markov. I wouldn't doubt the Canadiens would be willing to part with Markov, the Canadiens will want to make a big splash since the draft in their building, and I'm sure the new owner's the Molson family would like to show the fans the team is going in a new better direction.

Gaborik buying house in Vancouver?

Gaborik: Rumors out of Vancouver say that Gaborik is buying a house in Vancouver, which obviously means he is likely going to join the Canucks. Rumors are also saying that Hossa is also planning on joining the Canucks.

Jmess: This isn't surprising to me I've been saying Gaborik would be going to Vancouver since last season. I also had been expecting Hossa to go to Vancouver as well as this will be Gillis's big splash. Obviously this means no more Sedin's and even though Gaborik and Hossa have more skill the Canucks are giving up two pretty durable Europeans for two injury prone ones.

Heatly and Lecavalier finding new homes this weekend

Draft Day: Many sources are in agreement that Heatly and Lecavalier will be moved at the entry draft this weekend. The major players for Lecavalier are rumored to be San Jose, Ottawa, NY Rangers, Calgary, Vancouver, LA and Minnesota. It is really dependent on who the Islanders take #1 overall and if the Lightning get Hedman or Tavares that determines if the Lightning need a forward or a defenseman. Rumors also say that the $4 million bonus Heatly gets on July 1 is playing a major role in trading him. Apparently if Ottawa can't trade him before his bonus kicks in then they might not trade him at all.

Jmess: I strongly believe that we will see Heatly and Lecavalier moved this weekend, however if I had to say which one of those guys I feel is more likely to be traded it would have to be Lecavalier. I don't believe however that if Heatly isn't traded by July 1 he won't be traded at all I can't see Ottawa keeping a disgruntled player (i.e. Emery).

Heatly's preferred teams?

Heatly: Although Heatly has not released the list of preferred teams he'd like to go to, rumored speculation among NHL agents and GM's say three of those teams are Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. However Bryan Murray has eluded to the fact that he thinks Heatly's contract is almost untradable which may force Heatly to go to a team that isn't on his list or stay in Ottawa.

Jmess: If Heatly's main priority is to get out of Ottawa then whatever team it is shouldn't really matter. He should know that his contract limits him to going to teams with cap space and teams with cap space aren't usually the ones that are perennial contenders or close to home.

Bloggers note

Feel free to comment on all my blogs. I do read all the comments and would love to see some conversations started or ideas shared in the comment sections.

Marleau for Heatly?

Heatly: I just caught word of a possible trade being in the works that would include the Senator's Dany Heatly and the Shark's Patrick Marleau. The Sharks have been looking for a prolific scoring winger to play with Thornton and to shake up their dressing room.

Jmess: If the Senator's could get a quality player like Marleau given the situation Heatly has put them in then I'm sure they would be very interested in taking it. It sounds like a win-win for each team but may be too good to be true.

Cole on the outs?

Cole: It appears as though Erik Cole is going to be the odd man out in Carolina this year. Cole had a disappointing season and an even more disappointing playoffs. Carolina has a number of unrestricted and restricted free agents and it doesn't appear as though Cole is a priority.

Jmess: I am pretty much ready just to go out and say Cole won't be with the Hurricanes next year. He also is in line for a pay cut since he just hasn't been the same player since his neck injury. Some one will pick him up just to early to really know who is interested, I can probably guess that the Oilers aren't.

Sedin's make demands

Sedin's: Henrik and Daniel have apparently set what it is going to cost the Canucks to keep them according to Swedish website expressen.ca. Apparently the twins are asking for 12-year $63 million contracts each. The demand was apparently quickly turned down by the Canucks.

Jmess: These contracts would break down to a $5 million cap hit each year over the contracts. To keep the Sedin's at a $10 million total cap hit is reasonable. I think it is the length of the contracts that are scaring the Canucks as the Sedin's aren't that young in their careers. I think we might actually see the Sedin's go to a team that is willing to give them long term security.

Minnesota and L.A. in Heatly hunt?

Heatly: I just heard a rumor that Minnesota and L.A. are now players for Dany Heatly.

Jmess: It's hard to say where he's going but I'm very sure that you will see Heatly moved on draft day if not before that. He definitely won't be a Senator next season.

Nash Columbus' off-season priority

Nash: The rumor is the Columbus Blue Jackets have made signing Rick Nash to a contract extension their main off-season priority. If Nash isn't signed he could play out the final year of his contract and test the market.

Jmess view: I think Nash will be in Columbus for a long time, as Columbus has shown vast improvements over the last couple of seasons. Also if Columbus wants to save some cap room they'll sign him to 10 or 11 year deal.

Draft day craziness

Draft day: Reports from all over suggest that this year's draft day will see several big moves. It is thought that both Heatly and Lecavalier will be on the move and possibly in the same deal? Also LA's Jack Johnson is rumored to also be moving to a different team. Of course you can't ignore Brian Burke and his attempt to move the Leafs into one of the first two picks of the draft.

Jmess view: It will be a great draft day that is for sure. Not only will a pure goal scorer with amazing skill be drafted into the league (John Tavares) but we could see some of the biggest draft day trades in recent memory.

Canadiens snubbing Briere?

Briere: Reports out of Montreal suggest that the Canadiens have turned down the opportunity to acquire Briere from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Jmess view: With Briere's huge salary and the injury problems that have plagued him the last few season I really don't see any takers for him at this point in time.

Guy Carbonneau in Calgary?

Carbonneau: A rumor got to me yesterday about Guy Carbonneau reportedly being seen at the Calgary international airport. Not sure if this visit would be hockey related or not, but still interesting.

Jmess view: If this is true I would say it would be good evidence for Carbonneau stepping into the Flames coaching vacancy, but I still think the frontrunner's have the last name Sutter.

Kessel heading out of Boston?

Kessel: Reports out of Boston suggest that with the David Krejci signing the Bruins may not have the cap space to give Kessel the raise he'll undoubtedly be looking for. The rumor is Kessel may be on the move or another Boston forward such as Chuck Kobasew, Michael Ryder or Patrice Bergeron would have to be moved to make space for Kessel.

Jmess view: I think there is a good probability we could see Kessel in a different jersrey next season.

Tippett coaching Flames?

Tippett: A recent report out of Calgary suggests that recently fired Dallas Stars coach Dave Tippett would be a good fit in Calgary's coaching vacancy.

Jmess view: I think your going to see a Sutter behind the Flames bench next season and that could be Brent or Darryl.

Bouwmeester building in Calgary?

Bouwmeester: Rumors have surfaced that Bouwmeester might be building a house in Calgary right now fueling rumors of Bouwmeester going to Calgary.

Jmess view: I still find it hard to ignore the fact that Phaneuf is the Flames premier defenseman. Phaneuf is currently at roughly 6.5 mil per season and it is likely Bouwmeester will be asking for more than 7 mil. This move doesn't make sense to me yet but we'll see what the future brings.

Start of rumor madness

It's that time of year again the NHL season is over and crazed hockey fans need some sort of hockey news to keep them going. This blog is going to stray away from giving you the boring NHL news of the offseason such as team analysis and talking about the draft prospects that have already been talked about day in and day out. This blog is going to provide you with nothing but rumors in a quick hit format. Those who know me know that I am obsessed with NHL rumors and spend a lot of my time following them and finding them. I will be providing rumors on this blog that I find or hear on a day to day basis. All I'll be doing is blogging what I heard and that is it. I may add my own little comment on the validity of the rumor or what I think but that is it. Hope you enjoy this blog, and if anything you get a kick out of the rumors I find. Enjoy the blog.
