Versteeg: It looks like the Blackhawks qualifying offer blunder may cost them Versteeg. The NHLPA has filed a grievance with the league over the qualifying offer debacle. If Versteeg were to leave via unrestricted free agency it is speculated he could make up to $5 million on the open market.
Jmess: If Versteeg leaves via unrestricted free agency it will end up being a huge mistake for Chicago.
This may be a blessing in disguise... Tallon bit way off way more than he could chew with Hossa and Campbell and Versteeg's extension should instead go to signing Tazer and Kaner. Let Kris get overpaid by someone else...
